Forecasting Healthy Futures Global Summit

The Forecasting Healthy Futures (FHF) Global Summit will convene diverse stakeholders from the climate and health communities to build our collective knowledge, strengthen new and existing partnerships, and identify opportunities to move together from awareness and political will to action and impact. The Summit agenda is designed to provide participants first with a high level view of our current understanding of climate change and its impact on health, then insights and updates on technical innovations from a series of transdisciplinary panels in fields related to health, an executive take on recent and future developments in climate financing, and finally a thoughtful view of communications and advocacy opportunities to advance investment in next generation solutions for climate and health worldwide.

Climate Change & Human Mobility

Join Alliance member Stanford for their Climate Change and Human Mobility Conference. This two-day conference will convene scholars, researchers, and practitioners whose work focuses on the convergence of climate change, environmental disasters, and human mobility. Conference sessions will cover climate-driven migration, public health impacts of climate change, climate displacement law and policy, climate change impacts on indigenous and other vulnerable communities, among other topics. Conference events will also include a film screening and networking opportunities.

Bay Area Global Health Alliance 2022 Annual Meeting | May 16, 2022

Global health professionals from academia, NGOs, tech, biotech and other private sector partners gathered for the Alliance’s Annual Meeting on Monday, May 16, at UCSF. Amy Lin, acting director of USAID’s Center for Innovation and Impact, discussed the future of the global health sector in a fireside chat moderated by PHI president and BAGHA board chair Mary Pittman. Their conversation was followed by a series of flash talks on the state of global health financing and investments from representatives from the Hewlett Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation. The meeting concluded with highlights on the state of the Alliance and key partnerships.

Bay Area Global Health Alliance members Americares, Stanford University, Public Health Institute, UCSF, and Google had a virtual conversation exploring the impact of wildfires and air pollution on the health of communities in the United States. The discussion co-hosted by the Alliance and Americares highlighted the most important concerns in this space and each panelist shared how their organization is working to build resilience, support preparedness/disaster management efforts, and address the health inequities resulting from climate change. At this virtual event, attendees had the opportunity to learn from leading experts in climate health, contribute ideas, and leave with action items to further climate resilience in their communities. Stanford scientists and other climate experts will discuss what we know about extreme heat and the range of possible future scenarios we should reasonably prepare for. They will discuss the health implications of extreme heat for people, especially vulnerable populations, and highlight additional significant impacts on the planet and nature.

This event will take place virtually from October 30 to November 3, 2023, prior to the in-person conference from March 7-10, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.
