Join Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health for their International Humanitarian Surgical Skills course. The course will help prepare international humanitarian volunteers for delivering surgical care in a low resource setting for treatment of common surgical and obstetric conditions. The 1 ½ day course will provide an overview of the scope of conditions that one might encounter in resource- limited environments. The course is intended for physicians and advanced practice providers with pre-existing surgical/procedural skills: surgery, emergency medicine, family medicine, and OBGYN.
Join the Bay Area Global Health Alliance and Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign in welcoming Dr Harris, a Clinical Senior Lecturer and Honorary NHS Consultant in Public Health Medicine at Imperial College London, to discuss his new book focused on the potential of low cost healthcare solutions from low income countries. The book presents a pathway for the UK’s National Health Service to adopt low-cost but effective innovations from areas of the world traditionally seen as beneficiaries rather than providers of help and support. He will share examples of simple, frugal, high quality alternatives to current practice.

Join UC Davis Veterinary Medicine for the Rx One Health Field Institute, a transformative field-based experiential learning course focused on One Health core competencies for graduate students and early career professionals from all disciplines. Through hands-on experiences, case studies, group discussions and field exercises, Rx One Health will develop participants’ skills for addressing complex challenges using the One Health approach, which recognizes that the health of people, animals, and their environments are interconnected, and that problem solving to address complex challenges is best achieved through transdisciplinary collaboration.

Last week Sara Anderson, Executive Director of the Alliance, was honored to be part of the White House Roundtable on AI and Health. The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy convened a distinguished group of leaders from across sectors to discuss how artificial intelligence (AI) can be safely deployed to improve health outcomes, with a special breakout session on the use of AI to improve public health and global health. To prepare for the meeting, the Alliance sought input from our multi-sector members and key stakeholders on what three-four points they would make if they were at the table.

One week later, a follow-up event on November 3, 2023, created an opportunity for more dialogue and small group breakout discussions.
