Join Alliance member PHI’s Lotus Project for the third webinar, ‘Promoting Intergenerational Communication & Healing’, in their Intergenerational Trauma Among Asian American & Asian Immigrant Communities (Webinar Series). This webinar will explore community and clinical practices that promote effective communication and mutual understanding across AAAIs of different generations, by discussing barriers and benefits of cross-generational communication, learning from success stories of community programs that bring generations together, and exploring culturally sensitive practices that facilitate the healing of AAAI children and families from intergenerational trauma.

Community Action to Fight Asthma Virtual Summit

Join Alliance member PHI’s Regional Asthma Management & Prevention (RAMP) for a 2-day Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA) Virtual Summit. Day 1 will feature opening remarks by California Senate Majority Leader, Lena A. Gonzalez, followed by a panel on MediCal’s asthma policies and a presentation on the latest scientific research on indoor air quality. Day 2 will feature a panel on asthma and climate change policy, a training on advocacy, and opportunities to meet with California policymakers to educate them about asthma.

Learnings from the Access Bridge Clinical Reproductive Health Fellowship

Join Alliance member Public Health Institute (PHI) for a webinar on the updates and lessons learned from PHI Bridge’s Access Bridge project, that works to improve access to sexual and reproductive health services. In 2023, Access Bridge launched a fellowship with 22 clinicians working in 19 hospitals across 13 states — providing fellows with tools to implement core reproductive health services in their emergency departments (EDs). The webinar will introduce insights on how to build ED capacity to serve as reproductive health safety nets and increase health equity.

Bay Area Global Health Alliance 2022 Annual Meeting | May 16, 2022

Global health professionals from academia, NGOs, tech, biotech and other private sector partners gathered for the Alliance’s Annual Meeting on Monday, May 16, at UCSF. Amy Lin, acting director of USAID’s Center for Innovation and Impact, discussed the future of the global health sector in a fireside chat moderated by PHI president and BAGHA board chair Mary Pittman. Their conversation was followed by a series of flash talks on the state of global health financing and investments from representatives from the Hewlett Foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Draper Richards Kaplan Foundation. The meeting concluded with highlights on the state of the Alliance and key partnerships.

Building Community Resilience Against the Health Effects of Wildfires and Air Pollution | September 8, 2022

Bay Area Global Health Alliance members Americares, Stanford University, Public Health Institute, UCSF, and Google had a virtual conversation exploring the impact of wildfires and air pollution on the health of communities in the United States. The discussion co-hosted by the Alliance and Americares highlighted the most important concerns in this space and each panelist shared how their organization is working to build resilience, support preparedness/disaster management efforts, and address the health inequities resulting from climate change. At this virtual event, attendees had the opportunity to learn from leading experts in climate health, contribute ideas, and leave with action items to further climate resilience in their communities.
