Stanford University, known for its academic and scholarly excellence, is a leader in infectious disease research and has several laboratory groups throughout the institution whose research is dedicated to stopping infectious disease transmission and enhancing the health of the world around us. Given this area of expertise, this year’s EEID theme will be Healthy Planet, Healthy People, emphasizing the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental well-being. In addition to this focus, this year’s conference also strives to enhance learning through inclusion of diverse perspectives from experts around the world whose work focuses on infectious disease.

International West Africa Symposium & Workshop on Infectious Disease

Join Alliance member UCSF's Quantitative Biosciences Institute in collaboration with the University of Sierra Leone for the first International West Africa Symposium & Workshop on Infectious Disease. The Symposium on July 29-30 will bring and expose leaders in the international infectious disease community from within Africa and beyond, together in Freetown, Sierra Leone to describe the state of the art in infectious disease research on a number of key pathogens relevant to the region. Workshops will follow on July 31-August 3.

AFREhealth Annual Symposium

Join AFREhealth for their 7th Annual AFREhealth Symposium from August 6-8, 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The African Forum for Research and Education in Health Limited by Guarantee (AFREhealth) is an interprofessional health professional network that works to improve the quality of health care in Africa through research, education and capacity building. The theme of this symposium is 'Progress towards SDGs in Africa: Celebrating Milestones and Overcoming Challenges', and will provide an avenue for constructive exchange of innovative ideas, sharing of experiences and best practices, promoting research, building of lasting partnerships for improved health care in Africa and networking.

EAGxBerkeley 2024 will take place September 7-8, 2024 at Lighthaven in Berkeley, CA. The conference will focus on a diverse range of cause areas, local community building, and knowledge sharing. It will offer networking, workshops, presentations, and small group gatherings for around 500 attendees dedicated to addressing some of the world’s greatest challenges.

Starting Delaware’s first multidisciplinary clinic for HIV patients in 1985, leading the US COVID-19 Testing and Diagnostic Working Group, and serving as a Professor and Vice Chair of Medicine at Stanford University since 1998 are just a few highlights in Dr. Winslow’s extraordinary career.

Summit of the Future | UNGA79

Effective global cooperation is increasingly critical to our survival but difficult to achieve in an atmosphere of mistrust, using outdated structures that no longer reflect today’s political and economic realities. The Summit of the Future is a high-level event, bringing world leaders together to forge a new international consensus on how we deliver a better present and safeguard the future. In September, world leaders will convene at the United Nations to adopt the Pact for the Future, which will include a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations as annexes.
