Stanford Big Ideas in Medicine Conference

Join Alliance member Stanford University for conversations with thought leaders from academia, business, policy, and journalism as they present their Big Ideas that will shape the future of medicine. In this inaugural Big Ideas Conference, four theme areas were selected by a committee of Stanford faculty. Each theme will feature four speakers giving a 15 to 30 minute talk on a transformational Big Idea followed by a conversation with the speaker.

Webinar | This is Not Your Usual Heat Extreme

Join Alliance member Stanford Wood Institute for the Environment for an event as a part of their Environment & Energy Panel Series. In 2023, we have seen extreme heat records around the world. Stanford scientists and other climate experts will discuss what we know about extreme heat and the range of possible future scenarios we should reasonably prepare for. They will discuss the health implications of extreme heat for people, especially vulnerable populations, and highlight additional significant impacts on the planet and nature.

UNGA 78

For the first time, the UN General Assembly will convene three High-Level Meetings on health during its 78th session (UNGA 78) in New York in September 2023. Currently, the world is off track to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) health targets by 2030. UNGA78 is an historic opportunity for world leaders to place health back on the high-level political agenda as they recommit to ending tuberculosis (TB), delivering universal health coverage (UHC) and strengthening pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response, according to the World Health Organization.

AI in SBC: the present and future potential

Join Springboard for the second session of their two part webinar exploring how social and behavior change (SBC) programs can use digital technology to gain insight to inform program design and implementation. This session will explore how AI is changing the digital landscape, as well as the opportunities and challenges with AI adoption in SBC. The 5th Annual UCSF / ZSFG Refugee Health Symposium

Join Alliance member UCSF for the 5th annual UCSF/ZSFG Refugee Health Symposium: Refugee Migration Through the Generations. Hosted by The Refugee and Asylum Seeker Initiative (RAHI) at UCSF, this virtual symposium brings together refugee health experts across disciplines in an annual opportunity to discuss current issues and ongoing research in refugee health. This year the symposium will showcase the health impacts of forced migration across generations, with speakers from different waves of refugee migration over the past several decades, from the 1970s to present.

Food for Thought: Giulio De Leo on Triple Win Planetary Health Innovations in Africa

Join Alliance member Stanford’s King Center on Global Development for a presentation with Professor of Oceans Giulio De Leo. His talk will cover the progress made in reducing and eliminating schistosomiasis, a disease caused by water-borne parasitic worms. More than 250 million people are currently infected, with 90% of cases in sub-Saharan Africa. His presentation will discuss targeting the environmental reservoir of the disease: the water snail population.

Africa Health Tech Summit

Join the Alliance, PSI, PATH, UNICEF, Google and other members at the second annual Africa Health Tech Summit - Digital Health: Empowering People, Transforming Communities held in Kigali, Rwanda this upcoming October. Organized in partnership with the Africa CDC and SmartAfrica, the conference will explore how digital health can transform healthcare delivery across Africa.
