Connecting for innovation and equity in global health
Following the recent World Health Assembly, the release of the Biden Administration’s budget, and key legislation in Congress, Chris Collins, President and CEO of Friends of the Global Fight, gave us his observations from DC on the political state of global health.
This year has been described as a year of great transition, but what’s actually happening? What have we learned from COVID and what are the plans on the table to react to that — in the US and elsewhere? Are we going to continue to under invest in global health or are we truly at a “change moment”?
Fundamental to health security is a health system that works for people today and is ready for the threat tomorrow. What’s the pandemic preparedness architecture that’s under consideration? Will governments balance investments in COVID-19 and future pandemics, while sustaining the response to AIDS, TB and Malaria, universal health care, non-communicable diseases and more?
If we’re going to “build back better,” we are on a short timeframe.
This Policy Briefing was hosted by Bay Area Global Health Alliance and Georgia Global Health Alliance.
