Marian Brown Sprague

Marian Brown Sprague is Senior Editorial Advisor to the Bay Area Global Health Alliance. She brings years of experience working for positive social change to her role with the Alliance. Marian began her nonprofit career with the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts affiliate, Very Special Arts. Next, she was instrumental in the creation of two Washington, DC-based NGOs: the Foundation for Hospice and Homecare and the Caring Institute. Among Marian’s freelance clients are Sunset Magazine, Humanity United, Elfenworks, Soul Food Salon and various authors. She is an award-winning writer whose work has been published in Toddler: Real-life Stories of Those Fickle, Irrational, Urgent, Tiny People We Love, Power Moms, (Chicken Soup for the Soul), the Mercury News, the Palo Alto Weekly, the Santa Clara Weekly and Who Cares and Caring People magazines. She received her degree in health policy from Duke University and is chair of the Duke’s regional board in California.
