Join Alliance member UCSF's Quantitative Biosciences Institute in collaboration with the University of Sierra Leone for the first International West Africa Symposium & Workshop on Infectious Disease. The Symposium on July 29-30 will bring and expose leaders in the international infectious disease community from within Africa and beyond, together in Freetown, Sierra Leone to describe the state of the art in infectious disease research on a number of key pathogens relevant to the region. Workshops will follow on July 31-August 3.

Join AFREhealth for their 7th Annual AFREhealth Symposium from August 6-8, 2024 in Nairobi, Kenya. The African Forum for Research and Education in Health Limited by Guarantee (AFREhealth) is an interprofessional health professional network that works to improve the quality of health care in Africa through research, education and capacity building. The theme of this symposium is 'Progress towards SDGs in Africa: Celebrating Milestones and Overcoming Challenges', and will provide an avenue for constructive exchange of innovative ideas, sharing of experiences and best practices, promoting research, building of lasting partnerships for improved health care in Africa and networking.

This brown bag session features Dr. Lee Sanders, a general pediatrician and Professor of Pediatrics at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where he is Chief of the Division of General Pediatrics. He is a national expert in the science of health literacy, which applies a literacy lens to advancing maternal and child health equity.

The Africa Interdisciplinary Health Conference (AfIHC) aims to showcase research and best practices in a wide range of health-related disciplines across Africa and beyond, aims to provide a forum for networking and collaboration among health-related practitioners, academics, researchers, and students, and aims to engage with and learn from health leaders around the World. This hybrid conference is expected to draw participants from Africa and other continents from diverse backgrounds and locations.

This webinar will explore community and clinical practices that promote effective communication and mutual understanding across AAAIs of different generations, by discussing barriers and benefits of cross-generational communication, learning from success stories of community programs that bring generations together, and exploring culturally sensitive practices that facilitate the healing of AAAI children and families from intergenerational trauma.
