Abbey Kocan

Abbey Kocan is Deputy Director at the Bay Area Global Health Alliance. With over 14 years in the non-profit and for-profit sectors, Abbey’s experience includes strategy development, governance, partnership development, fundraising and resource mobilization, organization design, change management and communications. She most recently served as the Executive Director of Kupona Foundation, which improves access to high quality healthcare in Tanzania, working closely with its sister organization, CCBRT. At Kupona, Abbey rebuilt the start-up 501(c)(3) to position it for greater growth and impact, expanded Kupona’s donor base, diversified funding streams and mobilized technical and advisory resources to support their mission. She served as a strategic advisor to CCBRT’s CEO, and as a bridge and connector between donors and partners in the U.S. and the team on-the-ground in Tanzania. Prior to Kupona, Abbey was a Manager in Deloitte Consulting’s Human Capital practice. Abbey holds an M.B.A. from Goizueta Business School at Emory University and a B.A. in Sociology and Spanish from Bucknell University.
