Connecting for innovation and impact for all in global health

The U.S.-Africa Frontiers of Science, Engineering, and Medicine Symposium 2026 will take place February 2–4, 2026, in Dakar, Senegal, in partnership with the Senegal Academy of Science and Technology (ANSTS), Foundation ANSTS, and Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar (UCAD). This multidisciplinary gathering brings together outstanding early- to mid-career scientists, engineers, and medical professionals from the United States and African Union member countries, including the African science diaspora, to share cutting-edge research and foster international collaboration.
The program will feature five plenary sessions—Critical Minerals and Materials, AI for Decision Making, Bioinformatics, Food Security and Nutrition, and Child and Maternal Health—each co-chaired by experts from both regions. Participants will explore advances in these fields, engage in cross-disciplinary dialogue, and consider the broader developmental impact of their work in Africa and the United States. Travel costs for selected participants will be covered. Applications must be submitted online by July 31, 2025, to be considered.
