Platforms, Play, and Public Health: Exploring the Impact of Digital Tools on Health and Wellbeing.

April 2 @ 6:00 am

AI is increasingly shaping how health information is created, prioritized, and shared across digital spaces. At the same time, video gaming has become one of the most widespread and influential forms of digital engagement globally, particularly among youth and adolescents. Following the launch of the Regional Tech Task Force in November 2025—hosted by Sync Ithra in close partnership with WHO and the WHO Foundation—this webinar will continue the dialogue among researchers, public health leaders, policymakers, and technology experts.

Speakers from academia, the technology sector, and public health institutions will share insights and emerging evidence, followed by an open discussion with participants. The discussion will focus on two interconnected themes:

  • Gaming and Health: examining the outcomes of the literature review on video games and health
  • AI, Platforms, and Misinformation: exploring how AI tools and digital platforms shape health information visibility and trust

The session aims to create a space for diverse perspectives and to surface key considerations that can inform future work of the Regional Tech Task Force, particularly around digital literacy, innovation, and responsible digital health environments.
