The Alliance Introduces Inaugural Student Advisory Council

The Bay Area Global Health Alliance is pleased to announce the launch of its inaugural 2025 Student Advisory Council (SAC), an initiative designed to enhance engagement with students and faculty across its academic membership. The 2025 Student Advisory Council members include: Tim Jing and Eliza Ennis, Stanford; Jorge Morales Alfaro and Katherine Kiang, UC Berkeley; Jalika Joyner and Zeenat Kumar, UC Davis; Mehrdad Yadegari and Sima Naderi, UCSF.

50 by 50: Halving Premature Deaths Globally by 2050 | A Bay Area Launch Event for the Lancet Global Health 2050 Report

January 22, 2025

On January 22, the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley), Stanford University (Stanford), and the Bay Area Global Health Alliance co-hosted the Bay Area launch of the Lancet Commission on Investing in Health report, Global Health 2050: The Path to Halving Premature Death by Mid-Century, bringing together Bay Area students, researchers, and other key stakeholders to explore the significant findings of the report, discuss next steps, and highlight the priorities for follow-up studies.

Innovation & Health Equity Discussion Series

2024 and 2025

Driven by students and early-career professionals, the Alliance has supported Stanford Biodesign’s Innovation & Health Equity Discussion Series in 2024 and 2025. The monthly health equity discussions are an opportunity for Stanford Biodesign’s broader biodesign community and beyond to engage with and learn from individuals with expertise in addressing health equity through innovation.

Berkeley Board Fellows Program

2024 and 2025

Since 2024, we have participated in the Berkeley Board Fellows program, helping to shape future board leaders by providing hands-on experience in social impact to two students every year through nonprofit board service.

Global Health Opportunities Fair

November 7, 2025

In 2025, we supported members of our SAC and Stanford students in organizing a Global Health Opportunities Fair. The fair aimed to provide a unique space to connect students with organizations that may need more support amid federal funding cuts.

Global Health Career Panel

May 15, 2024

In 2024, we organized a Global Health Careers Panel that featured professionals from the Alliance, Roche Diagnostics, PATH, Google, and Stanford, who shared their unique career journeys and provided mentorship and insights into pursuing a career in global health.
